week 8 ? Update

I didn’t get to go out at all last week due to Graduation, end of School & Lousy Weather.

I have 0 in cost ,because I paid for the items in the past weeks

Yesterday, I bought $36.50 of costume jewelry & gorgeous enamel coffee pot.
I also went to this strange Mission church bazaar, reminded me of the moonies.
Anyway, I bought Some Rich Dad cd’s & Books ( Thank you , Gary) for $8.00 .

In the last few weeks, I’ve gone out with over 100.00 in my pocket . I never spent more than 20.00.

Perhaps, I am coward about taking chances

On the other hand, my kids appreciated that I actually had cash, lol.

I have put all vintage jewelry that did not sell , in my etsy store.

Fvf & Paypal fees are lumped together . Also , I put all the money I spent in cost, regardless of whether I Listed it or not.

Friday 5/30 Estate Hunting

Why is it there can be two Estate sale less than a mile apart but so different price wise.

Do some people hope to have fewer sales at higher prices or sell everythting at low prices.

First sale,

Very very pricey,

I was interested in 2 audio book Tapes (working on a lot) & they wanted 3.00 each.

I looked around but didn’t see anything compelling to buy.

At the Next Sale, I spent $7.00

I got a variety of cookbooks, art books & 1933 yearbook for Washington Irving High school in NYC.

In some of the books were Postcards, Such as this gorgeous one from the Stork Club.

Mileage was 5 miles  Round trip.

I got enough items to keep my self busy tomorrow ( it’s suppose to rain).

I spent more money on stock . I’ve been concentrating on getting Books onto Amazon.

I  had lots of books in my basement that were not listed anywhere. I concentrating putting my old book stock onto Amazon & My old ebay listings on Esty.

Try , Try ,try again

Armed with all the wonderful tips about using my cell phone& books pricing software to evalute books to buy, I went to the Local thrifts for a practice run.

Salvation Army & GoodWill

The Good News

• I was totally ignored
• I did not buy anything at Salvation Army
• I learned that Books are overpriced .

At the second store , I spent 23.42 buying 12 books , all listed on Amazon.

My Total spent this week was $59.42

The Challenge is on, mistakes, hasty buys and dumb luck- I Hope !

I went to 2 estate sales on friday.

The first one everything appeared to be overpriced . I walked in and walk out rather quickly with no purchases.

At the second sale , a mile away, things were different.

I spent 30.00 dollars.

I went home & researched my buys, and said Ackh…. this challenge is going the wrong way.

I ‘m so eager to do this, that I’m not trusting my instincts .

So, I signed up for one of those Book Look up via cell phone and was ready to go back out to some Church Sales.

I am at the sale , putting in numbers, & the over eager sales people are looking over my Shoulders.

I check a few , but their attenion is nerve racking, so I just grab a few books & Tapes and buy them.

I spend 4.50

• 2 Audio books that I will set aside to sell in a lot later in the challenge 1.00

• 2 Vhs Tapes -10 keys to Sales and Financial Success for Small Business Vol 1 & 2 2.00

• Menopause cookbook ( To be put in a Lot later). .50

At the the last church sale, it was small, no many Items and you appeared to get a handler when you walked in.

I bought 3 books @ 50 cents each

• 2 time life books ( Home Repair)

• Estimating for a Residential Constructions ( Listed on Amazon)

On the way out I saw a Free Box,

I took a Syracuse Univesity Mobil Oil Glass

So , that was my start . I have some listing going off today and will add the links.

Does anyone have hints about discreetly using the book look up on the cellphone ?

I find my items at Estate sales, Church Sales & Garage Sales.

After doing my Taxes, I realized I am spending way too much money on Gadgets to make a Profit on Ebay.

SO , I’ve streamlined my business and set some Goals.

I am going to net a minimum of 4,000 5,000 dollars during this challenge .

My other Goal is to practice keeping the inventory flowing in & out, ( I have 2 busy kids , so sometimes there are distractions to sidetrack me )
