A decorated war hero, he is probably best best known for his recording of ”The Ballad Of The Green Berets” in 1966 for which he won two gold records. One for the single and another for the album.
He was also the original author of a series of mass market paperback military historical novels called Casca: The Eternal Mercenary. The original series contains twenty-two titles. The first few were written by Sadler himself, with the rest being written by other authors under his name.
The series is quite popular with fans of military historical fiction and sets of all 22 titles can bring $250.00 + on eBay. Near complete sets complete sets can often bring $100.00 to $150.00. At times, even small lots of five or six books from the series will bring $4.00 to $5.00 per book.
The series is most likely to show up at garage sales, thrift stores, or book sales.
