Slowly

May 7, 2008 · No Comments

Hello All!  Things got started very slowly for me this weekend.  Our eldest daughter (the tween) and I headed out on Saturday morning to hit an estate sale in the neighborhood.  It appeared that maybe this wasn’t the first day of the sale or that they had already dispersed or liquidated most the of the estate in other ways.  There just wasn’t as much stuff as I expect to see at an estate sale.  Being spring in Western Washington, it was drizzly and they said not many people had stopped by.  The prices were very good but selection not so much.  I ended up with three NIB Party Lite pieces, a gravy boat, some misc. Craftsman tools, and a some other floatsom for $20.00.  Some of it is listed and other pieces I’m still deciding whether or not to keep ;).  Then off to the thrift store where we picked up a couple large Pampered Chef stoneware pieces for $14.99.  They priced them as a set but PC doesn’t sell them that way and I’ve listed them seperately.  No luck on books/media as there was a team of scanners already in place in the book section.

The surprise item of the weekend is the stapler pictured below.  It was a freebie at the estate sale.  I’m a sucker for vintage desk pieces and especially anything in the deco or mod style.  When I saw a similar one on Ebay going for around $35.00 I decided I could part with it hee hee.  Someone quickly jumped on my $9.99 opening bid and I’m anxious to see what it finally goes for.

I’m not sure yet how I’m going to do updates but I’m sure I’ll get into a groove fairly soon.  Looking forward to hearing about your great finds.

Colleen’s 2008 Challenge Goal

April 25, 2008 · 2 Comments

Hi all!  I’m really excited to be part of the challenge and blog.  Our goal is $5,000.00 profit.  We’ll be obtaining inventory from garage sales, thrifts, estate sales, library sales and possibly pawn shops.  Our venues are Ebay/half.com and Amazon.  You can find us under the user ID beautifulexcess on all three venues.  I’ve been mostly selling books on Amazon and Half but recently started to get back into Ebay auctions to sell the other fun things we find in our travels.  I’m a garage sale and thrift store junkie but now it is time to see just how well I can make my addiction hobby pay off.

Our online business is based out of my basement home office near Seattle Washington.  The garage sale season should be starting up in ernest soon.  My husband helps me with the business but for the post part it is my baby and responsibility.

Looking forward to sharing and seeing how well everyone does.
