The purpose of The 2008 Garage Sale Challenge is to show both beginning and experienced eBay sellers that it is entirely possible to start with a small amount of money and build a successful part-time or full-time eBay business by selling antiques, collectibles, and other used items found at garage sales, thrift shops, estate sales, flea markets, and antique shops.
The Challenge is open to all readers of The Auction Rebel blog who wish to participate. Participants are encouraged to set goals and keep records of their sales and expenses for the duration of Challenge which lasts from May 1 to September 30, 2008.
The 2008 Garage Sale Challenge blog provides a way for participants to document and share their progress with others throughout the Challenge.

Is this the right place to pose a question about the Garage Sale Challenge? If so, here it is. The rules say to count mileage as an expense at .505 per mile. That’s a lot! What if I am going to my sister’s 200 miles away and visit the thrift stores in her area? I don’t have to count over $200 in mileage expense, do I?
