How To Register For The 2008 Garage Sale Challenge

I owe those who want to participate in The 2008 Garage Sale Challenge an apology.

I chose WordPress.com to host this blog because it uses the same blogging script that I already use for The Auction Rebel. My thinking was that there would be a zero learning curve for me and that I would be able to easily answer any questions participants had about posting their updates.

As it turns out, the version of WordPress used here has a few minor differences then the one I already use. One of these difference is in the way I am able to enable participants to be able to post here.

Because of these differences, here is what you will need to do to register and then be able to post your updates here.

• Go to WordPress.com
• Toward the top of the page you will see a large green rectangle that says “Sign Up Now!” Click on that rectangle.
• You will now need to create a WordPress.com account. This requires you to create a User name and Password. You will also need to enter a valid email address. IMPORTANT: Enter an email address that you regularly use. This is important.
• Once you have completed that, there are two options – “Give me a blog” and “Just a username, please”. Unless you want to start a blog of your own on WordPress.com, check “Just a username, please”
• Click “Next”
• Fill in your first and last name in the boxes on the next page and save your profile
• Within a few minutes you will receive an email at the address you gave. In the email there will be a link in the email you will need to click to activate your registration.
• Send the exact email address you used when registering to me using the the email form on the Contact Page of The Auction Rebel. I need this email address to activate your account
• Allow 12 hours for me to complete your registration
• Once I’ve done that your registration will be completed and you will be able to post your updates on the blog.
